Happy Saturday! This week went by pretty slowly for me, which is not necessarily a bad thing. This weekend you will find me on a dock at my cottage tanning my ghostly white stomach. More importantly I will be hanging out with the husband, another couple we’re friends with, and my mom. I love my cottage.
But before I sign off from the interwebs for the weekend, I am excited to share with you the amazing and generous box of treats I was sent by Eric for Foodie Pen Pals.
The box included Nips, raisins, hot sauce, coffee, raspberry M&Ms, Nutella snack pack, Cracker Jacks, mini Altoids, Tazo black tea, and an appetizer set. Quite the selection, and I will eat and use all of it.
Immediately I opened the Nips; I hadn’t had these for years! Plus, I giggled a little because my college girlfriends and I created a sorority called NIPS (Nu Iota Pi Sigma).
The next morning I added a few dashes of the hot sauce to my eggs, and as I wrote about on Wednesday, the raspberry M&Ms were the perfect sweet snack. The Altoids are in my purse and half gone already (probably because I like to eat two at once).
My plan for the rest of the goodies?
•The coffee is vacuum sealed and I am actually still working on the beans Amanda sent me last month.
•The mini boxes of raisins will be traveling to Europe with me.
•The tea will be made once I purchase a
pitcher from Target (mine cracked).
•The Nutella and Cracker Jack will wait patiently for an intense sugar craving.
•The appetizer set will be used when I host Wine and Recipe again.
A huge thanks go to Eric for being a Foodie Pen Pal rockstar and Lindsay for organizing this food exchange. Sadly, I need to bow out for July because I will be in Switzerland and Croatia until the middle of July.
If you are interested in seeing what I sent my Foodie Pen Pal, head over to Angie’s blog (we have the same name – I geeked out a little but then Angie said she had an Angie last month too which is even crazier).
Want to join in on the food fun? Here is how it works:
-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
– Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
***If you’re in the UK, please contact Carol Anne from This Is Rock Salt at email@example.com to get involved!
There is a sign up form in Lindsay’s blog. If you love food, packages, and surprises, you are a perfect candidate for Foodie Pen Pals.
Have a great Saturday!
